Hetsco recently made weld repairs on an emergency basis to Hydrogen Reformer tubes for a customer. The tubes were six inch diameter High Nickel based (25-45% Ni) material and before welding were required to be solution annealed at 2250 degrees Farenheit. The work consisted of combining tube materials from various plant locations for the final tube assemblies. Hetsco completed PMI (Positive Material Identification) testing on all of the tubes and made precision measurements to identify creep along the tubing wall thicknesses. All welds were dye-penetrant tested along with 100% radiography. This work was completed over a holiday weekend, in order to get the customer up and running as soon as possible.
